Amsterdam Dance Event rounds up first selection of ADE Arts & Culture line up for 2023 edition

Amsterdam Dance Event

For its third edition, ADE Arts & Culture continues to explore the aesthetic relationships between electronic music and other art forms. The program's 2023 edition focuses on contemporary artists, the beneficial effects electronic music has on both its producers and listeners, and expanding visitors' horizons. The debut performances include collaborations between Het HEM and Horst, Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest and Mary Lake, and De School and Boris Acket in addition to the previously announced outstanding piece ATMEN at International Theater Amsterdam.

A wide range of cultural collaboration initiatives, such as 'New HHHorizons' by Het HEM and arts and music organization Horst, to be displayed at Thomaskerk, are quickly taking shape for the 2023 edition of ADE Arts & Culture. The Amsterdams Andalusisch Orkest and DJ Mary Lake will combine techno and Arabic music at Bimhuis in a one-of-a-kind fusion. 'TIJDSDUUR' by Boris Acket, a month-long installation that questions accepted concepts of time, takes over De School. Jameszoo, Helena Basilova, Spekki Webu, and other musicians are invited to bring the works to life.

'Rooted in Culture' at Tolhuistuin, a comprehensive exploration of the roots of electronic music and how they are connected with black history and the LGBTQAI+ community, further enhances the roster. The Melkweg Expo exhibit 'Recharge & Revolt' explores rave culture as a potent political tool. Visitors to Stadsarchief Amsterdam's 'Wie Danst Is Vrij' can explore club culture in Amsterdam from 1980 to the present to celebrate the city's distinctive nightlife, and the Portuguese Synagogue will be transformed into a fascinating two-piano concert setting with the sounds of 'River Without Banks'. With information about to be released, many more activities will be added to the ADE Arts & Culture schedule in the run-up to the event.
